About us

Having moved to Williamsburg, Virginia in 1981 from Florida, the wife and I found ourselves emersed in history. Williamsburg was the Colonial capital and the site of the Civil War’s Battle of WIlliamsburg on May 8th, 1862. We’re close to Jamestown which is the 1st. permenant English settlement and Yorktown, the site of the battle that signaled the close of the Revelutionary War.

As a child growing up in Idaho and Colorado my hobby was hunting for arrowheads and Indian artifacts. Shortly after moving to Williamsburg, I became interested in metal detecting for Civil War artifacts, and over the past fifteen years have found some true treasures.

About ten years ago I started my own foundry making reproduction Civil War belt buckles. I made over 250 different types and my customers included the United States National Park’s Gift Shop’s. In December, 1978 we opened the Civil War Store as an outlet for our custom belt buckles, as well as everything Civil War we could find.

Today, the Civil War Store ofers everything from Civil War toys to flags, collectibles, artwork replica guns, swords, Civil War period uniforms, and a thousand other items. Many who visit
the store say it looks like a museum.

We look forward to your visit, both in person and of course online.

Thank you for visiting the Official Civil War Store Web site and this About Us Page. We are involved with a total new look for the web site. Once we’ve completed all of the technical aspects of the Web site this page and others will be fully functional. We will complete this task as soon as possible. In appreciation for your patience and for your repeated visits to this site, the owner and proprietor of the Official Civil War Store will offer some fantastic savings on selected collector’s items. There are only one of each and once sold they cannot be replaced. The “Appreciation” page should be available by September 3, 2006.
